The Grampians Pt 3: Hollow Mountain

It is the journey that matters, not the end. Nowhere else does this hackneyed phrase ring with more truth than in Hollow Mountain, the under-recognized gem of the Grampians. In fact it was so overwhelming that I could not reach the end of the trail, fearing that I could be the first person ever to fall off the edge of the precipitous trail by the mountainside. Despite its benign description in most hiking guides, this trail is definitely not a walk in the park. Fortunately, marvellous and dizzying panorama and colourful rocks reminiscent of the Artist's Palette in Death Valley could already be found midway up the top. To me, a city dweller, it was already quite enough and at that point all I ever wished for was to get back to level ground.
